Christian Wolff applies his brilliant mind and illegal methods to reconstruct the unsolved puzzle of a Treasury chief's murder.

Whenever I’m traveling there are a couple of go-to movies that I download for a flight or a long layover. Con Air, Snake Eyes, and The Rock, 90’s action flicks with a simple story line and plenty of action, a movie where you know the beats but you’re thoroughly entertained by it nonetheless. The Accountant 2 is one of those kinda films in the very best way. While you’ll find this tale kinda familiar, The Accountant 2 is an action-stacked popcorn blockbuster filled with laughs that will thoroughly entertain you from start to finish.

When her former boss is killed by unknown assassins, Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) is forced to contact Christian Wolff (Affleck) to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax (Jon Bernthal), Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive - all intent on putting a stop to their search.

The Accountant 2 follows the narrative beats of nearly every action film you’ve seen. I mean this in the best possible way, it knows exactly what kind of film that it wants to be and it goes for that full throttle.

And what makes you stay engaged throughout is that for a film that tackles some pretty heavy subject matter, this isn’t some sombre, morbid exercise. The Accountant 2 is punctuated with laughs, generally at Christian’s expense, which adds a light touch to proceedings that again draws you into the film.

Also what makes The Accountant 2 so engaging is the action itself. It’s bloody, brutal, and so damn fast, with the final sequence one of the most entertaining in recent memory. Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal’s brotherly relationship is the very heartbeat of the film and they both inhabit their characters with an incredible charismatic ease.

While you’ll find this tale kinda familiar, The Accountant 2 is an action-stacked popcorn blockbuster filled with laughs that will thoroughly entertain you from start to finish.
