Lost (2008)
Christmas special - the constant

Lost was one of the craziest TV series of the mid 2000's and was filled with a mish mash of sci - fi, magic, polar bears, time travel, and smoke monsters. Lost followed the story of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 were 1,000 miles off course when they crashed on a lush, mysterious island. Then those polar bears showed up. Lost continues to enjoy a cult following around the world (including one of my work mates).

Lost's Christmas episode, The Constant is no different. During the helicopter ride to the ship, Desmond's consciousness begins jumping back and forth between present day 2004 and 1996. He is forced to find Daniel Faraday in 1996 in order to get answers and stop the jumps. If he doesn't figure out a way to stop the jumps it could prove fatal.

Now I know it seems a bit mad but here where the Christmas part comes in. Desmond must track down Penny, the love of his life, so that the strength of the connection can 'anchor' him and stop him from jumping back and forth between time.

Desmond finally manages to contact Penny on Christmas Eve and their passionate, tear filled reunion is a reminder that Christmas is really about the presents but about being with the ones we love.
