The flightless birds and scheming green pigs take their feud to the next level.

Red, Chuck, Bomb and the rest of their feathered friends are surprised when a green pig suggests that they put aside their differences and unite to fight a common threat. Aggressive birds from an island covered in ice are planning to use an elaborate weapon to destroy the fowl and swine way of life. After picking their best and brightest, the birds and pigs come up with a scheme to infiltrate the island, deactivate the device and return to their respective paradises intact.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 is the second installment of an animated movie. The Angry Birds universe is based on a mobile game. The main character is, well, an angry bird.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 should have sucked. But it didn't. In fact, I rather enjoyed it. The jokes are silly, slapstick and sometimes just plain old potty humor, but somehow amongst the colour and the action and inexplicably likable characters, they managed to get everyone laughing.

Much like the first The Angry Birds Movie, the plot and concept of the The Angry Birds Movie 2 is very simple, with a few straightforward sub-plots to add some relief. Again, against my better judgement, I liked that about the movie. It is after all a kids movie.

The biggest praise I can give the movie, is that the 4 year old I had with me watched the whole thing without once getting distracted, asking how much more of the movie there was to go, or saying at the end “I like episodes of Pokemon better”. He actually said he liked it.

Now here is the tricky part. When writing the review, without being unfairly critical (ie basing my review on the fact that it's a silly kids movie and not my usual humor) all I could think of was positive things to say. BUT when I came to giving a star score out of 5 stars, I feel generous giving it a 3. There aren’t specific factors that I think bring it down, but nothing special that warrants more than a mid range 2.5 other than the fact Mr 4, the ultimate critic, didn’t ask if we could leave half way through.

Somehow amongst the colour and the action and inexplicably likable characters, The Angry Birds Movie 2 manages to get everyone laughing.
