The film traces the journeys of the four members of the Stairway To Heaven rockers through the music scene of the 1960s and their meeting in the summer of 1968, culminating in 1970.
Becoming Led Zeppelin takes audiences on the musical origins of the band, how each member’s musical interests began to how their first two albums were recorded and released. A mix of interviews with each of the surviving members and stunning archival footage, this in depth look at the formation of one of the greatest bands of all time is a treat for a fan of any level.
Don’t think that this is your run-of-the-mill documentary though, Becoming Led Zeppelin is far from being stuffy and bogged down with boring factoids. This film hits hard with big musical numbers, allowing for full songs to play out as they were recorded in those early gigs, making the later half of the film especially feel almost like a concert movie. You are plunged right back into the late ‘60s/early ‘70s rocking out with a bunch of lads and their screaming first fans.
Seeing the early steps taken for each member, both their musical influences and how they started in the industry was really fascinating. Seeing the timeline you gain the understanding of those early youthful influences and how they shaped the sound that Led Zeppelin became.
Watching Becoming Led Zeppelin on the biggest and loudest screen possible is ideal viewing. Seeing those lads become huge stars and being blasted away in the IMAX cinema was really the best experience possible.
Fans of the band will enjoy Becoming Led Zeppelin, a musical journey of the first years of one of the greatest bands of all time.
