As Miranda Priestly nears retirement, she reunites with Andy Sachs to face off against her former assistant turned rival: Emily Charlton.
If a sequel make you a little nervy, The Devil Wears Prada 2 will remind you why some stories are worth a second visit. Capturing the same heart and sass as its much-loved first edition, it brings back the beloved cast of Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and of course Meryl Streep. It's 20 years down the line and touches on how times have really changed in the glossy magazine world, but also how some things in life truly never change.
Andy (Hathaway) now a "serious" reporter with a wardrobe full of blazers is faced with a crossroad in her journalism career and finds herself eye to eye with the formidable Miranda Priestly yet again. But Miranda with all her power and status in the magazine world is having to move to the whims and feelings of the publishing company boss, advertisers and the mass move to digital everything.
A sad commentary on modern media, it pulls on the heartstrings of us millennials like nothing else. That nostalgia of ye olde magazine and the glamour of 2006, let alone the slip and slide of print journalism and the power now held by the few elite. One now being Emily - the once loyal assistant, turned fashion house mogul with power of her own.
The core four characters slip straight back into the characters we know and love, and the additions of Justin Theroux, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu and Simone Ashley work a treat. It's mean, sharp, quick, witty and manages to still draw on the glitz and glamour we loved twenty years ago, while reflecting on a 2026 world. But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom, Anne, Emily, Stanley and Meryl are a spectacle to behold - they're not A-listers for nothing.
Dig out your cerulean sweaters folks and enjoy some fun back with your favourites. That's all.
