Plagued by a recurring violent nightmare, a college student returns home to find the one person who can break the cycle and save her family from the horrific fate that inevitably awaits them.
Final Destination: Bloodlines is the sixth installment in the long running supernatural horror franchise; described as a reimagining and benefitting from co-screenwriter Guy Busick’s (Ready of Not, Scream IV, Abigail) magic touch, Bloodlines is a thoroughly entertaining ride.
Final Destination: Bloodlines sees university student Stefani Reyes afflicted by a terrible reoccurring nightmare about her grandmother Iris Campbell dying horribly in her youth. This affects her so much that she brings her troubles to her family, only to be shut out and told to not bring up Grandma Iris again. At a loss, Stefani decides to track down Grandma Iris herself to learn why she is being tormented by this reoccurring nightmare and how to be free of it. However, doing so unleashes something terrible upon her family; the curse that has been hanging over Iris’s head since she was young has spread to the rest of the family through Stefani.
Final Destination: Bloodlines benefits from great pacing, thrilling kills and a wry sense of humour that is all brought to life by excellent performances from the cast.
The CGI can feel a bit janky, however the effectiveness of the filmmaking certainly mitigates this feeling.
Final Destination: Bloodlines is a fantastic entry in the long running franchise, perhaps a series high with its success in reinterpreting the formula with new creativity and shockingly thrilling kills.
