An unexploded WWII bomb is discovered on a busy construction site in the centre of London. Chaos ensues as the military and police begin a mass evacuation

Set in contemporary London, Fuze unfolds after an unexploded World War II bomb is unearthed at a busy construction site, forcing a massive citywide evacuation. Amid the escalating tension and chaos, a daring criminal operation is set in motion—one that uses the evacuation as cover for a meticulously planned heist.

As authorities race against time to contain the crisis, alliances blur and moral boundaries are crossed, the film deftly propels audiences through a series of calculated twists delivering a wildly entertaining ride.

You’ve gotta love a movie that knows exactly what it is and wants to be. Fuze is that kinda film. It’s an out and out action thriller that at times feels serviceable and you know what’s coming and at other times it totally (no spoilers here) surprises you. The best way to describe it is that it's in a similar vein to the BBC’s Line of Duty with plot lines criss-crossing and doubling back all over the place.

The story has two main narratives playing out - the attempt to diffuse the unexploded bomb and a bank heist happening in the cordoned off zone. While you might be able to pick some of the twists in the plot but there are definitely some real turns that even I didn’t see coming.

The action is quick, brutal, and thoroughly engrossing throughout and is used to create narrative suspense and surprise in equal measure.

With Aaron Taylor Johnston and Theo James starring opposite each other here, this could be considered a Bond-off with both stars having been linked to the 007 vacancy. And the two actors bring a considerable action prowess and charm to proceedings which has a great ensemble cast from Avatar helming Sam Worthington, acclaimed British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and character actors like Nabil Elouahabi.

While Fuze isn’t going to redefine the action genre it’s a solid thriller with a great ensemble cast, stacked with action and twists aplenty.
