top ten marvel movies

By The Movie Army Team.

Its been ten years since Iron Man burst onto our screens and the cinematic landscape was changed forever.

With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Marvel Studios twentieth film and the last to be released in its first decade, we thought we would put together our Top Ten Marvel films - of all time!

"I am Groot!"

ant-man (2015)
avengers: infinity war (2018)

Although Scott Lang is a just a newly released petty thief until Dr. Hank Pym recruits and train him to become Ant-Man using a suit that can cause him to have superhuman strength and the ability to shrink or grow in size. Lang must stop Cross, Dr. Pym's former protege, from using the same technology for evil.

Another real risk for Marvel Studios that really pays off in its story, humour, and innovative action sequences. A terrific cast led by the brilliant Paul Rudd, Ant-Man may be one of the smallest super heroes around but boy does he pack a punch.

Thanos plans to collect all six Infinity Stones and use them for ultimate evil. All super heroes, in this galaxy and beyond, must unite together to stop Thanos for unleashing untold terror on the universe.

Its all been building to this. Every film, interwoven story line, and end credit scene has been heading towards this climatic battle. Avengers: Infinity War is epic in every sense of the word with the main players all getting more than enough screen time. But the scene with Spidey - man that hits you in the feels!

Black panther (2018)

After the death of his father in Captain America: Civil War, T'Challa returns to his homeland, the secretive Wakanda, to take his rightful place as king and as the Black Panther. T'Challa must learn not only to govern his people well but to address threats from within and outside of his kingdom.

Black Panther caused a cultural storm upon its release, lighting up the world box office in the process. With a believable, grounded culture in the land and people of Wakanda and Killmonger, the best comic book villain since The Dark Knights' Joker, Black Panther is a Marvel classic.

captain america: the first avenger (2011)

Steve Rogers wants nothing more than to head off to fight Nazi's in 1941, but is rejected by the military because of his small stature. Rogers is accepted into an experimental scientific programme that turns him into Captain America, a super soldier. Rogers heads off to battle but in the process discovers Hydra, a secret organisation more sinister than the Nazis.

Theres something quite uniquely cool about Captain America: The First Avenger. The World War II setting, the sense of intrigue and adventure all combines to give it an Indiana Jones kinda vibe. The cast is led fantastically by Chris Evans as the clean, cut whiter than the pure snow Captain America and Hayley Atwell is superb as Agent Carter.

captain america: The winter soldier (2014)
guardians of the galaxy (2014)

Captain America is getting used to living life in the modern world after being frozen for nearly seventy years. He joins forces with Falcon and Black Widow to fight a threat to the peace of the world after a colleague at S.H.I.E.L.D is attacked.

What makes Captain America: The Winter Soldier such a great film isn't just because its a great story with great characters and action, but its also in the question that it poses: if your friend was causing harm and destruction, where would your loyalties lie?

Peter Quill AKA Starlord along with aliens Gamora and Drax, Rocket, a genetically enginered raccoon, and Groot, a treelike - humanoid, must join together to recover an orb from Ronan before he uses its power to destroy the universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy has to be Marvels biggest gamble: ever. Not only were the characters completely unknown by general movie goers but so was Chris Pratt, the films lead. Now Guardians are some of the most beloved Marvel characters and Pratt is one of Hollywood's biggest stars. The film is hilarious, its quirky, its got a great soundtrack, and Chris Pratt is just so frickin' awesome.

guardians of the galaxy vol. 2 (2017)

Picking up where Guardians left off, Vol. 2 finds Peter Quill and the Guardians up to their old tricks, wheelin' and dealin' throughout the galaxy. A series of events leads Quill to discover his long lost Dad, but things start to unravel quickly with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance.

Vol. 2 takes everything about the first instalment and adds in a really fresh way to the Guardians story answering a lot of unanswered questions from the first tale.

iron man (2008)

Tony Stark, a playboy billionaire inventor, is captured by terrorists and builds an iron suit to escape. As you do. Returning home he uses his iron suit to combat terrorism and crime.

The movie that started the whole Marvel behemoth off. Its just so good - even after ten years. The action is awesome, the story is enthralling, and the humour crackles. But its all held together by Robert Downey Jr. He is hilarious, arrogant, sarcastic, but kind, with a sense of purpose and duty to humanity. Iron Man is just so darn good.

spider-man: homecoming (2017)

After hanging out with the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker returns to his life at Aunt May's and going to school. A mundane existence compared with the exciting adventure with the Avengers. Peter must suit up as the evil Vulture threatens everything he holds dear.

Spider-Man: Homecoming works on so many levels but it mainly works because Spider-Man is what he is always meant to be: a kid going to school. And you believe it from the casting of Holland as Spidey (he looks like a kid) to the class rooms, the prom, and the home work making Spider-Man: Homecoming Peter Parkers best cinematic outing yet.

thor ragnarok (2017)

Trapped on the other side of the universe, Thor must team up with Hulk in a race against time to save Asgard, his beloved home, from destruction at the hands of the all-powerful Helga.

Thor Ragnarok has to be Marvels funniest film ever, slightly beating Guardians of the Galaxy. Its hilarious from start to finish but has all the top notch spectacle, action, and wonderful Marvel characters.
