Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up alone on a spaceship light-years from Earth. As his memory returns, he uncovers a mission to stop a mysterious substance killing the sun, and save Earth. An unexpected friendship may be the key.
Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a science teacher who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory of who he is or why he’s there. As fragments of his past begin to return, he discovers he’s part of a desperate mission to solve a global crisis threatening Earth’s survival. With limited resources and time running out, Grace must rely on his scientific instincts and problem-solving skills to piece together both his identity and the purpose of his journey.
As the mission unfolds, Grace faces unexpected challenges that push him beyond anything he’s experienced before, forcing him to adapt in ways he never imagined. What begins as a story of survival gradually becomes something much larger, exploring resilience, ingenuity, and the lengths one person will go to protect life on Earth—while confronting the unknown in deep space.
Project Hail Mary is fantastic. Visually, it’s stunning. The cinematography and special effects create a sense of scale and immersion when combined with its powerful score. All of these elements work together to really draw you in and makes you feel like you are there.
Ryan Gosling is brilliant, he brings a perfect mix of humour and vulnerability. You really feel the crushing weight of each set back on his seemingly impossible mission and equally share in the joy and triumph of each small victory. Paired with his alien sidekick Rocky they bring a chemistry that rivals that of Ryan and Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys.
Project Hail Mary is a visually stunning, immersive sci-fi with Ryan Gosling’s mix of humor and vulnerability perfectly matched by his alien sidekick Rocky, making every setback and triumph feel real.
