Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite to battle Shadow, a mysterious new enemy with powers unlike anything they've faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, they seek out an unlikely alliance to stop Shadow and protect the planet.
It's not that often that movies get better as a series progresses but Sonic 3 is the best of the franchise by far. A great reason to get to the movies with the family for some fast, chaotic and surprisingly heartfelt summer fun.
Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
Sonic 3 has a notably different tone to the previous two movies which seems to be more suited to older kids but this helps it make us to feel like we are growing with Sonic as he matures.
Keanu Reeves is perfect as Shadow as he has turned an animated hedgehog into an emotional and powerful onscreen presence who takes control of every scene he is in.
The action in Sonic 3 is fantastic, its fast paced hard hitting and at times high stakes. The dynamic between Sonic, Tails and Knuckles has really found its groove and they play off each other so well with flowing dialogue and well timed jokes. And the human star of the show, Jim Carrey, just gets better and better as the over the top Dr Robotnik.
Sonic is a fun trip to the cinema for the whole family and it does look great on the big screen - be sure to stick around through the credits!
