After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse picks up right from where the 2018 smash hit left off, with a brief yet brilliant flashback run down of the previous film. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse goes deep into the Spider-Verse, bringing with it a much darker feel than the previous film. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse also spends time on Gwen’s tale and universe, building her a great backstory.
And just like the previous outing, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is an animation masterpiece. So many styles of animation that are so different but don’t clash with each other, they work together. The filmmakers also brilliantly use the different animation styles, colours and tones, to define different worlds.
Builds on the first and goes a little bit darker, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a masterpiece of a comic book movie. A must watch.
