Street Fighters Ryu and Ken reunite when Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. As they face a hidden conspiracy, they must confront each other and their past-or face destruction.
I wouldn’t consider myself a big Street Fighter fan, I’ve played some of the games maybe a handful of times over the years and despite that I had a great time with this film. So you definitely don’t have to be a die-hard fan or know all the lore to enjoy the movie, it does a fantastic job at welcoming newcomers to the franchise.
Street Fighter follows estranged martial arts rivals Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo). Recruited by Chun-Li (Callina Liang) to enter the World Warrior Tournament, they discover a global conspiracy led by the evil dictator M. Bison (David Dastmalchian), who aims to capture Ryu's mystical Hado powers.
Some of my highlights from the film were the visuals and style, they used animation for the intro, opening credits and flashback scenes throughout the film and they looked phenomenal. Almost made me wish the whole thing was animated! This as well as the fight scenes made it feel much like a video game in the best way possible. The choreography was great, impact heavy and very satisfying to watch. The plot at times was pretty wacky, but that’s right up my alley and for me made it an absolute joy to watch.
Street Fighter is fast-paced, stylish and packed with fantastic fight scenes, a fun ride for both lifelong fans or a complete casual.
