The Housemaid follows Millie (Sydney Sweeney), young and broke as she gets a dream job as a live-in housemaid with an impressively wealthy family of three. The mother Nina (Amanda Seyfried) is overjoyed with Millie and starts her right away to help keep her perfect life sparkling. Soon enough however the flaws begin to emerge and Millie has to question is this job worth it? 

 

A thriller like this shines brightest when the audience knows very little. Enjoy the tension and reveals as the plot unfolds taking audiences on a twisty journey of a desperate girl and the hidden lives of the wealthy. 

 

Amanda Seyfried stands out as Nina, the perfect wife and mother who wants a live-in housemaid to help. Her perfection shatters quickly and Seyfried’s unnerving performance hikes the tension up immediately. Seyfried brings her best as Nina the loving wife, perfect mother and what is really behind that mask. As the perfect husband Brandon Sklenar brings the hot body as well the kind and patient husband that is the envy of all Nina’s friends. 

 

The film is a perfect hook for audiences to be introduced to the book series, and fans of the books already would enjoy seeing the story played out on the big screen. The credits song is also the perfect choice, closing the film with the ideal vibe.
