★★★
Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race.
After the runaway commercial success of Cars, it was inevitable that there was going to be a sequel. And even though it departs from the original story location to take in the great, big world Cars 2 is still a slick, fun ride.

Star race car Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world's fastest car.
Cars 2 has a much more complex and complicated plot than its predecessor due to its spy thriller setting. This is admirable but it does take a bit of the warmth away from the heartwarming relationship between McQueen, Mater and all of the other residents of Radiator Springs. Michael Caine’s addition as super British spy car Finn McMissile is absolutely superb.
While lacking a little of the heart of its predecessor Cars 2 is still a slick, fun ride.
